Appearing in TV Program on illustrator Junichi Nakahara

The late Mr. Junichi Nakahara, whose illustrations received substantial adoration among young girls in Japan during and after the World War II, was not only an illustrator but a pioneer in the Japanese fashion design field. His influence was immeasurable among young creators who would later become famous designers, including Hiroko Koshino. She will introduce her own episode on how she admired Mr. Nakahara's works in the TV program "Rekishi Hiwa Hisutoria (Secret story of the history)" this week.

Introducing Hiroko's House on TV

TV program "Tatsumi Takuro no Ie Monogatari (Takuro Tatsumi's  House Story)," actor Mr. Tatsumi visits notable houses throughout  Japan and introduces their owners' life styles. In the upcoming  program scheduled to be broadcasted in this coming weekend, Hiroko  Koshino's house in Ashiya will appear. Her house, designed by the  world famous architect Mr. Tadao Ando, is a place where Hiroko  releases her tense in the weekend, as well as a source for gaining  inspiration for her creation. "NHK Archives" on Ayako Koshino

The serial drama "Carnation" is gaining great popularity with its remarkable script and production, excellent actors, as well as beautiful camera works and music. Of course there is no doubt about the charming character of the late Ayako Koshino, who was a model of the heroin, which captures the audience. The enchantment of Ayako Koshino and alluring episodes will be introduced in the upcoming program "NHK Archives," in which Hiroko Koshino, the oldest daughter of Ayako, and broadcaster Ms. Yoko Sakurai will have a conversation about Ayako's path while showing some past TV programs of which Ayako Koshino appeared.

Ayako Koshino on TV Again

The NHK drama "Carnation" has been receiving favorable reception. The late Ayako Koshino, the model of the drama heroin and the mother of Hiroko, Junko, and Michiko Koshino, will appear on two TV rebroadcast programs as below.

Hiroko Koshino on TV

On Thursday, March 17th, Hiroko Koshino participated in a symposium commemorating the 50th anniversary of the  modern craftwork artists exhibition. In Kanazawa, where the exhibition was held, the designer had an enthusiastic discussion with Mr. Yuji Akimoto, Director of the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, Mr. Junji Ito, Professor of University of Toyama, actor/artist Mr. Tsurutaro Kataoka, and Mr. Ryohei Miyata, President of Tokyo University of the Arts, on the theme of "talking about the future of the craftwork: what to create now, as Japanese."

The symposium will be broadcasted on NHK-Educational TV with the title of "TV Symposium" on Saturday, April 23rd, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm on NHK-Educational TV.

NHK Drama "Carnation"

Official announcement was made by NHK that actress Ms. Machiko Ono will play a starring role in the upcoming morning serial NHK drama "Carnation." The drama is based on a true story of Ayako Koshino, Hiroko Koshino's mother, and will be broadcasted for six months from Monday, September 26th, at 8:00 am  every weekday, portraying the heroine's extraordinary life in the  turbulent age. Hiroko is looking forward to watching it, and hopes  many people will enjoy as well.

Hiroko Koshino on NHK-Educational Program

An symposium held on November 2010, where Hiroko Koshino was one of the panelists, is scheduled to broadcast this weekend on NHK Educational Program. The panel was made under the theme of "style of learning for 21st century's citizens," based on the sprit of "Kaitokudo," an Osaka-based private school for citizens from Edo period. Other panelists are Dr. Kiyokazu Washida, president of Osaka University, novelist/critic Mr. Taichi Sakaiya, and Mr. Kazuaki Tsuda, former vice president of Suntory.

The program will be broadcasted on Saturday, January 29th, from 3:00

Shooting TV Program "Premium 8"

Hiroko Koshino and two others were the guests of the NHK BS-hi vision's cultural program "Premium 8".
The theme of the program is "Sesson", a Japanese ink-wash painter of 15th-16th century, a mysterious artist, whom wandered around East Japan and draw pictures through out his life.  Hiroko, who draws ink-wash paintings herself, gave her unique  comments about the painter, from her point of view as a fashion  designer. Other guests are artist Mr. Tatsuya Ishii and art historian  Mr. Yuji Yamashita. The program is scheduled to be broadcasted on  Tuesday, February 8th, 2011, from 8:00 pm, at NHK BS-hi vision.

Hiroko Koshino on TV Program

Hiroko Koshino traveled to Hagi in Yamaguchi Prefecture for the popular TV program "Tsurube no Kazoku ni Kanpai (Tsurube's Toast for Families)." In this quaint former castle town, the designer met unique people, tried famous Hagi-yaki pottery, and enjoyed local delicacy.

The program will be broadcasted in two weeks: on Monday, September 6th, for Part 1, and Part 2 will be on Monday, September 13th, both
at 8:00 pm on NHK General TV.

"Na mo naki Hana yo (To nameless common flowers)" to be the Theme Song for new NHK Drama

"Na mo naki Hana yo (To nameless common flowers)" which Hiroko Koshino wrote the lyrics is included in Japanese popular singer/composer Mr. Kyogo Kawaguchi's album. This song has been appointed to be the main theme song for the coming NHK TV drama titled "Tenshi no Wakemae (Angel's Share)" scheduled to be broadcasted during summer of 2010.

This drama features a mid-30's single woman played by Japanese popular actress Ms. Arisa Mizuki. TV broadcast starts from July 6th through August 3rd, on every Tuesday, from 10:00 pm. It will be broadcasted on NHK BS hi vision on every Friday from 6:00 pm as well.
